When you have a degree in Engineering CAD Technology, there are lots of ways to put your diverse skillset to use. Get hands-on experience with the industry’s most advanced 2D and 3D CAD applications. Explore product design in a collaborative setting. Flex your problem-solving skills. And broaden your drafting skills with coursework in civil, structural, electrical, electronic, piping, architectural, and tool and die drafting.

Cutting-edge CAD instruction within specialized computer and 3D printing labs prepares graduates for the future with a focus on parametric CAD and digital prototyping applications. AutoCAD®, Autodesk Inventor®, SolidWorks®, and Creo Parametric (formerly Pro/E) ® are used extensively in the program.

Alternative Credit refers to academic credits earned through means other than traditional college course completion, including: credit by exam, articulation, proof of competency gained in high school, work/life experience, and advanced placement.

CAD Software Links and Computer Specifications

The following is a list of information that will be helpful for Engineering Design Technology students interested in purchasing their own computers. Please note that purchasing a computer and the software is not a requirement.

Students in Engineering Design Technology majors will be using the following CAD programs:

  • AutoCAD®
  • Autodesk® Inventor®
  • SolidWorks®
  • Creo® (formerly Pro-Engineer®)

Engineering Design Technology students will also be using Autodesk® Analysis software. This software is free to students from the Autodesk® student community.

Students can use the following links for downloading the system requirements for all Autodesk® products (Inventor®, AutoCAD®, etc.). The Autodesk® Registration/Activation information is the same for all licenses, commercial and student.
