Q&A with Jan

How did you hear about Penn College?

I found out about Penn College through a YouTube video actually. I have a degree already, a bachelor’s in International and European law. After my internship in that field, I realized I was not born for office life. In my free time I already worked on cars, and then I had to decide what I do with my life. So I knew I wanted to do something with cars–with old cars–and then I found a YouTube video that wasn’t really a Penn College video itself, but it was through a car channel, and that got my attention. So, I called the College, and I said, “Hey, can I come by? Can I have a look?” and two weeks later, I was there. Within two months, I was here. So it was a quick move.

The college is great. The teachers care a lot about their students and they try to make you succeed and try to actually see every case for itself, which is nice.

What do you love about Penn College?

The fact that there’s a lot of good equipment. Especially in my major, that’s very important, because you need a lot of tools. And as a student, you can’t really afford having these tools. So the school has a lot of tools available. It has a lot of equipment available that is really state-of-the-art stuff. We have spray booths. We have everything you could dream of in a professional shop, so that is a big advantage.

What is your dream job?

Basically, continuing to do what I’m doing now–working on cars.

What is your favorite class?

Lab classes–anything where I actually get to work on things. Theory classes are nice, but I always prefer touching things and working with them.

Here's a tough one...what's your favorite food?

That is a difficult one. Breakfast food is always good.

What did you have for breakfast?

I was in a diner–an all-American diner–and I had an omelet with bacon.

Last question...cats or dogs?

Dogs, always.
