Benefit Opportunities

We encourage you to work with a member of our team to maximize your benefits. Your options may include:

  • Chapter 33 – Post-911 GI Bill®Gives qualified veterans and dependents (with transferred entitlement) up to 36 months of educational assistance.
  • Chapter 1606 – Montgomery GI Bill® Selected Reserve (MGIB-SR)Offers a monthly educational assistance allowance for up to 36 months to eligible members of the Selected Reserve.
  • Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) – affiliate schoolExtends competitive scholarships for tuition, fees, books and supplies, and a stipend, based on merit and grades.
  • PA National Guard Education Assistance ProgramProvides tuition assistance at an approved Pennsylvania institution for Pennsylvania residents who enter into a service commitment with the PA National Guard for a period of six years.
  • Military Family Education ProgramGives tuition assistance to family members of qualified members of the Pennsylvania National Guard.
  • Federal Tuition Assistance (FTA)Gives tuition assistance to active duty members and members of the Army Reserve and Army National Guard. Service members should speak with their Educational Services Officer (ESO) or counselor within their Military Service prior to enrolling at Penn College.
  • Licensing and Certification Test ReimbursementOffers reimbursement for licensing or certification tests required to work in certain fields.
  • Course scheduling preference, in accordance with Act 46 of 2014 – See College Policy 4.57

Eligibility Guidelines

To be eligible and qualify for benefits awarded by Penn College, you must be in one of the following military affiliations:

  • Active Service MemberAny military member currently in an active duty or drilling reservist status in any branch of the uniformed services. Penn College requires that you show a valid military-issued ID card to verify active duty status.
  • VeteranAny person who served in any status with a branch of the uniformed services who has received a DD-214 (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) that indicates 'Honorable' in block 24.
  • Dependent or Family MemberThis includes those who are entitled to VA educational benefits under Code of Federal Regulations, title 38, section 21 [Vocational Rehabilitation and Education (2011)]. Penn College requires a "member 4" or long form copy to verify Veteran Military status. Contact the Coordinator of Veteran & Military Services for clarification about Character of Service Narratives.

Military Tuition Assistance Program

At Penn College, members of active duty components of U.S. Armed Forces will receive a discounted tuition rate of $250 per semester credit hour.
