'Civil Engineering Today & Tomorrow'

Think you know what civil engineers do? Think again! This edition of the Tomorrow Makers podcast will open your eyes to even more ways in which their projects impact our world. Ruth A. Hocker, a civil engineering instructor at Penn College, and Zachary T. Hepler, of Ringtown, a senior in the program, spark listeners' curiosity with topics ranging from civil engineers' vital community role to international career opportunities to floating cities.

Guest lecturer discusses promise of 'smart' concrete

European research into self-monitoring and self-healing concrete was shared Wednesday evening with Penn College students in civil engineering and a variety of construction-related majors. The hourlong seminar was delivered by Andrzej Cwirzen, head of the Building Materials Research Group at Luleå University of Technology in Sweden.

As part of a PAsmart “Advancing K-12 Computer Science & STEM Education” grant received by Pennsylvania College of Technology from the Pennsylvania Department of Education, 24 middle school educators recently convened on campus for a weeklong hands-on externship.
