Leading the Way

Q&A with Associate Professor Jabbour

WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO THE FIELD OF ARCHITECTURE?

My interest in architecture materialized during my high school years. I spent many nights sketching buildings and planning cities and communities. That passion and love was heightened during my first years of college while pursuing a pharmacy degree. I decided on a career shift that brought me to the US to pursue architecture.

WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER YOUR BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT?

Probably two things, first earning my Master's degree form Harvard, a lifelong dream; second, designing my first Villa in my home country of Lebanon.

WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT ARCHITECTURE?

I've always enjoyed exploring buildings and learning about the specific design styles and movements. I saw architecture as a vehicle to shape and improve our world.

WHY DO YOU THINK PENN COLLEGE GRADUATES ARE SO HIGHLY RECRUITED BY EMPLOYERS?

They are able to start contributing on day one of the job. Our graduates are technically skilled and versatile in the various languages and tools of design thinking and problem solving.

IF SOMEONE IS UNSURE WHETHER PENN COLLEGE IS THE RIGHT FIT, WHAT ADVICE MIGHT YOU GIVE THEM?

Explore all that our online resources have to offer. Visit the campus during our various on-campus events. Plan a shadow visit with the architecture department to explore first hand what your time here would entail.

WHAT MAKES THE ARCHITECTURE PROGRAM AT PENN COLLEGE UNIQUE, COMPARED TO OTHERS?

Our program is unique because it combines theoretical design components with the practical and technical aspects of architecture. Moreover, our program focuses heavily on sustainability and sustainable design.

Faculty & Staff

"It's incredibly rewarding to be able, as professor of architecture, to combine the artistic side of design with the more practical engineering aspect to create holistic and sustainable buildings."
