Howley Foundation Scholarship

Awarded by The Howley Foundation

If you graduate from one of the following approved high schools in the Philadelphia or Cleveland regions and meet the academic requirements, you’ll be eligible for this generous $10,000 scholarship. And if your school is out-of-state, you'll receive the same tuition rate as our in-state students.

On top of that, Howley Scholars will receive a $1,000 Penn College Foundation award. Become a Howley Scholar and you’ll be supported by dedicated advisors, tutoring services, and mentorship opportunities. 

Requirements

  • Enrolled in any major
  • Be recommended by your Philadelphia area Howley Foundation High School
  • Live on campus in College-provided housing
  • Enroll in the fall after graduating from high school
  • Enrolled full-time

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Howley Scholarship, each Howley Scholar must:

  • Be recommended by their Howley Foundation High School
  • Have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0
  • Enroll full-time in an associate- or bachelor-degree program
  • Enroll the fall after graduating from high school
  • Submit the Penn College Scholarship Application
  • File a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
  • Live on campus in College-provided housing
  • Permit Penn College to provide periodic reports to The Howley Foundation

This scholarship will be counted as "Last Money In" for financial aid purposes. Penn College employee dependents are not eligible for this award.

Renewability

The Howley Scholarship is renewable for:

  • Associate's degree students: Two years
  • Bachelor's degree students: Four years 

Recipients must:

  • Be enrolled full-time
  • Be on track to graduate on time
  • Maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher
  • Continue to live on campus

Provided you meet the criteria above, half of the scholarship value will be applied to your fall semester bill. The second half will be applied to your spring semester bill.
