Andrew sets massive goals and works hard to achieve them. He's back for his second Penn College degree looking to align his passion for automotive and information technology. He is grateful for all who invest in tomorrow's workforce with special thanks to the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation's scholarship support for mature students.
Ideally, my dream job is one that ties my new field of information technology to my automotive background, working for either a major parts supplier or an automotive manufacturer.
So far, Fundamentals of Information Security. The class covers a lot of interesting topics and is challenging without having a heavy workload.
Most definitely a tie between Shaun Hack, in the collision repair program, and Robert Vlacich, in the automotive department, both of whom made tremendous impacts during my first degree. In my new major, Rick Crossen is fantastic, exciting, personable, and challenges his students.
Working my part-time job or wrenching on one of my project cars. At one point during my past employment, I was given project lead on mechanical work for a 39 Buick. I was so zoned in when everyone left for the day and was still there when the owner came back to do paperwork at 9:30 p.m. that night.
Introducing me to opportunities I never really knew where there and providing me with incredible chances to network. Industry partnerships are strong and I have witnessed top-notch students recruited directly by the same museums and collections that supported the program, or by high-end shops that sat on the advisory board.
What can you say to someone who has made such an impact on the life of a student? In my mind the best thing I can do is offer a firm handshake and a genuine thank you, a small gift, and a handwritten card.

A $50,000 gift from the Charlotte W. Newcombe Foundation will provide scholarships to Pennsylvania College of Technology students age 25 and older who have completed at least half of the requirements and credits toward their bachelor’s degrees.
