Joining Snyder at the two-day event was Carl J. Bower Jr., assistant professor of horticulture. They attended a variety of educational sessions, including many focused on native plants and sustainable landscape solutions.

“Laura is one of those students who is always looking to learn more,” Bower said. “I have a feeling that she would have attended this educational session even if she wasn’t coming away with a huge scholarship. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this honor.”

Also attending the PLNA summit were a number of Penn College horticulture and landscape technology alumni who are engaged in the dynamic career field.

Joining Bower (third from right) and Snyder at the PLNA summit at Longwood Gardens are Penn College alumni (from left): landscape/nursery technology graduates Jeff N. Walizer, ’93; Scott A. Fohringer, ’97; Keane C. Scholl, ’91; and Valerie (Petroski) Reese, ’86, floriculture. Reese is nursery sales manager for SiteOne Landscape Supply; the three men are landscape designers at Creative Plantscapes Inc., of Lewisburg.
