The efforts of “crafty” Penn College students at a recent Wildcat Wednesday event will support a local social services organization devoted to family.

During “Wildcat Wednesday: No-Sew Blankets,” several students crafted cozy, creative no-sew blankets earmarked for Dwell Orphan Care. Based in Williamsport, Dwell works to empower, equip and encourage local churches and the community to support foster, adoptive and kinship families.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to community engagement and service, we hosted a unique activity that brought our students together and reached out to support a noble cause,” explained Ashlee C. Felix, assistant director of student engagement. “We are thrilled that the fruits of our students’ labor will be donated to Dwell, a remarkable organization with a mission close to our hearts.”

The blankets will be presented on April 13 at Dwell, selected as the month’s Community Service Saturday organization. Students interested in volunteering for Dwell Service Saturday should register on Engage.

“It’s a fantastic way to give back, connect with peers and make a tangible difference in the lives of families supported by Dwell,” Felix said. “Together, we can make a positive impact on our community and beyond.”
